Can you believe that it's March 1st today? In a couple more of weeks it will be Spring, I'm excited. The last two weeks Jared and I have been out and about enjoying all things going on around town with the Olympics. I have loved it and have to say that I am very sad that it is done. The feeling and excitement around Vancouver was amazing, breaking out O Canada in random places was pretty awesome and makes me proud to be Canadian. And the hockey game last night was nerve wracking. I was in and out of the room peeking to see what was going on in the end. GOLD!! Amazing, lots of tears and screams were had across the country. And having the most golds won in a Winter Olympic and venue city, AWESOME!! It was a proud day. Like my friend said on facebook Canada Day everyday.
But I did want to share my last bit of photos from the past two weeks. Lots of good times, red and white all around town, the maple leaf and memories. You can bet there will be a mini album put together of the last two weeks.

Sorry for the lack of posting. But life has been a bit busy the last two weeks and with the Olympics in town and on the weekends Jared and I have been trying to see as much as we can. But I do have tons of photos I want to share. Can you believe the Olympics are over on Sunday?! I cannot believe it, it went by too fast and I am kind of sad to see it all come to an end. I have enjoyed it, especially the feeling of patriotism anywhere you go in the city.
On the day of the opening ceremony we had an Olympic assembly where we got to wear all our Canadian gear. Here are my coworkers and I.
These photos are from last Sunday (Feb 14th). My mom, dad, Jared and I headed down to the Richmond Ozone to go and check everything out. First stop was the Holland Heineken House and those with Dutch citizenship are allowed in without lining up. Pretty cool, so with my Dad being Dutch we got in right away and completely by passed the line up. This is the entrance.
And inside..everything is orange and in Dutch. I loved it, made me feel like I was in Amsterdam.
We enjoyed some delicious food and of course a Heineken :)

We then headed outside to check out the sites.

It was also Chinese New Year so, they had a Dragon dance too.

We then headed to City Hall to check out the exhibits they had there.
They had exhibits set up called BC Streets which they had exhibits from different parts of the province. Lots of tourism to go and visit these cities.
My Mom and I did a bit of skiing.
This wall was made completely of ice, it was pretty cool and very pretty!!
And then we headed towards the cranberries...
They made the Olympic rings and a maple leaf out of cranberries, it was pretty cool. But it was hard to get a photos and the line up to the ferris wheel was too long.

The opening ceremony of the Vancouver 2010 Olympics is set to start in about half an hour. SO EXCITED!! And I wanted to share my photos of the torch relay that came by my neighborhood on Tuesday . I was so excited to see it all day. COuld not wait to race home and change into my Olympic gear and cheer on Canada.
We walked from my parents house to the corner of the street to catch a glimpse. We got there early about half an hour to secure a good spot on the sidewalk. As it got closer to the arrival of the torch the sidewalks were filled with people cheering and wearing red. Lots of security around with police cars and security in the air. Helicopters kept buzzing by.
We had first all the supporters of the Olympic games...
And then the torch bearer arrived. And it happened so fast, like 5 seconds. I had to be fast that's why the pictures are a little blurry.
And we were kind of in the perfect spot 'cause we got to see them light the next torch bearers torch, again I didn't realize, I had to be fast.
And that was it. AMAZING!! We walked into Steveston and got a pizza for dinner. While we were waiting for the pizza we went by to see my sister at work. She was all dressed up in red too!!

Also walking back to my parents house the Olympic commitee has encouraged everybody to leave their Christmas lights on to support the Games and I finally got a photo of this house everytime I drive by. So patriotic!!
Okay I am going to go and plant myself on the couch to watch the Opening ceremonies!! Have a good night!!
Can you believe that the Olympics start on Friday? So exciting. And I am even excited too. With everything that has been going on over here in my home town with the preparation of the big event and all the fun and exciting things that they are offering for people makes me excited!! Jared and I are excited to explore our city.
As promised, I thought I would share some photos of around town that I have taken with the preparations of everything having to do with the games.
The torch arrives in my town on Tuesday which I am excited to see and participate in. Wearing red of course to support our country. Go Canada Go!! My Mom and I took some photos of the sign they posted with the date and time of the torch arriving!!
And yesterday, Jared, my Mom and Dad and I went into downtown Richmond to check out the 400 bikes that the Dutch consulate donated to the city to use to get around during the games. Richmond is also having the speed skating competitions too at the Richmond Olympic Oval and being as I am half Dutch it makes it even more exciting and I want to be supportive of my background. My Dad was all proud too. And we are also having the Holland Heineken House in town whihc I cannot wait to go and see and try. I know my dad is super excited too and as a Dutch he gets in automatically without lining up!! Lucky him!! Actaully the whole are which is called the Ozone will have tons of fre stuff to see and do which I cannot wait to experience. And of course lots of other things to see in downtown Vancouver.
But I thought I would share some photos from yesterdays events.

After we went over to check out the bikes, they're pretty cool looking. I think I want one. My Dad looks so cute, eh?
And this is when everyone was lining up to return the bikes. Check out all the orange. Doesn't it look like the Tour de France?

So cool, eh? And where they are holding all this is called Minoru Park which is named after a horse and a horse track they had here a long time ago. And they have this statue of the horse so we got some photos too.
And then I went for a ride...
